I REALLY love this scale. I use it for two reasons: (1) I'm involved in the health/fitness industry and am often on a strict diet where I need to follow specific nutritional programs, and (2) I have a 7-yr old son who's had Type-1 diabetes since he was 3. One of my favorite features about the scale is the ability to enter custom foods into the database and if you search around you'll find this is a rare option with other scales. More importantly, however, is that the current reviews here are related to the older Kitrics Digital Nutrition Scale (model #120). Not too long ago a new model (#121) was released that addressed the issue that others have had about the poor display. The new model also comes with a removable, washable stainless steel platform for easy cleaning and durability. I can't say enough about the scale. I spent a long time researching various makes/models and am very pleased with my purchase.



Unfortunately at the time of this review the new model isn't available at Amazon and the best price I could find it at was [...] for $54.99 (but I was able to get free shipping).

I've had this scale for 4 months and I have lost 35lbs. I was really clueless about portion size until I got this scale. In the beginning, I used it all the time, keeping a cumulative daily total. Since I was trying to keep at 60%-20%-20% balance of carbs, fat, protein it was invaluable because I could see what I needed to get to the end of the day and stay within my diet. Believe it or not, that often meant at the end of the day I had leeway to have a (small) treat, which has kept me sane.



Now that I've had it for a while, I don't run daily totals, but I still use it all the time for accurate portion sizes. The manual gives instructions clearly and it is short -- but do be prepared to spend about 10 to 15 minutes learning to use the scale. Once you get it, it is easy.



I've entered in about 25 entries for food items that are not programmed in already. Entering them is easy. The code book is plastic so it won't get ruined by water. The scale is excellent for weighing mail, too.



The auto-shut off will save batteries and still gives you plenty of time to dig around in the fridge and chop something up.



Here are the reasons I did not give it 5 stars: The display could use more contrast as it is a bit dim. Every time you push a button, there is a loud beep noise. It can't be turned off. The book with the list of food codes is not in any sensible order and it has too many codes most adults don't need, like candy bars and processed foods. A condiment section would have been helpful instead of having to find mayo in one place, mustard in another, and I have yet to find ketchup.



I would totally overlook most of the above to give this product 5 stars, except for that infernal beeping.



I could not have had the success I've had without this scale! I never pay expedited shipping for anything, but I did for this and I am glad!

I am extremely salt sensitive. Also watching my weight. Even though I ready labels, this helps for me to eat the exact portion as prescribed by my nutritionist. I would have bought it just for the salt but I can't belive what a difference it has made with everything I eat. This scale was suggested by a young co-worker that just wanted to know what she was eating. I have suggested this scale to friends and would hightly recommend it for everyone's home but especially people that are controlling foods in their diet. Once you see how many calories, salt, sugar, etc in a specific food, it amazing how much you cut back on the quantity.

My five year old son was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. After seeing a diabetes educator for the first time, he recommended we begin a intensive educational process in learning the carbohydrate counts in the foods he eats and keeping a daily diary. Needless to say I had quite a tough time trying to eyeball appropriate portions in the foods he likes to eat on a releiable basis. We fell into some bad habits pretty quickly.



After realizing that we needed to make a change we contacted our diabetes educator who recommended we give Carb factors a try. We bought this scale at our CDE's recommendation. It comes with a booklet of about 700 foods and their associated carb-factor. Now all I do is weigh his food and multiply it by the carb-factor in the booklet.



Before I purchased this scale, I was spending over an hour a day trying to calculate carbs in my sons meals. The biggest time saver now is I have all the information at my fingertips when he goes to the refrigerator and takes sometime to eat. I no longer have to go to the computer (or look it up in a calorie book) and then do the math to figure out the total carbs he is eating. This product has cut down dramatically on the time I was spending counting carbs and more important, I feel that I am doing my job as a parent much better.

I wish I had known before I bought it that the units button is on the underside of the unit, a small recessed button that looks more like a reset button than a vital component of a robust scale. I will be returning it because I don't want to have to pick it up off the counter every time I want to switch from grams to ounces. Also when I do that I seem to throw the taring off. I don't feel it's worth the effort. The touchscreen is nice though.

I have been searching for a good digital scale that would not turn off in under a min. This one stays on as stated so food can be added after cutting it up. I use it daily, not only that but my daughter has started using it daily too. It has a very low profile and no buttons to get food or dirt in. It is nice that it can weigh up to 11lbs. I can put my corning ware casserole dish on it, and weigh out my single serving of oatmeal in it. It only takes a light touch to turn it on and off, and the little beep it makes is helpful. I would, and have recommended this product to my friends at the gym.

I have not had a lot of success with digital scales. Particularly those that require you to tap the pad before getting on to them.



These scales just work. No tapping required. You just get on to them and a bright blue backlight illuminates and shows you the weight. I really like them and am impressed by the price and the look too.

Ordered this to replace a scale that went kaput due to kiddos splashing too much water on it (another story!). This one is about half as tall (think thin) and unobtrusive in the bathroom. Interestingly aforementioned kiddos are able to get the idea of this one much more easily than the tap and then step on one. For them it is fun! For the wife and I we have found the scale to be accurate and the back light is a nice addition that we wondered if we'd need before we ordered it. One niggle is you do have to be fairly still otherwise the weight fluctuates around and sometimes the unit will shut off before it gives you a 'final' weight. That's a small item though and doesn't detract from our satisfaction. We were impressed with comments left by other reviewers on the manufacturer and their desire to 'make things right' in other circumstances and that helped us to reach out purchase decision. Would recommend...

After reading all the reviews of many different scales, I purchased this one, and I'm pleased to report that I made an excellent choice. The scale is durable, sleek looking and most importantly it's ACCURATE!

It shows the same weight as when I was at my doctor recently and it gives you the exact same reading when you go on and off etc. I should've purchased this a long time ago! Also, you don;t have to tap, you just go right on it, ans the numbers are huge making it easy to read without glasses.
